Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about this tool, how it works, and privacy.

What formula does the credit utilization calculator use?

It uses utilization = total balances / total credit limits x 100 and available credit = total limits - total balances. For example, 2500 in balances on 10000 in limits gives 25.00% utilization and 7500.00 in available credit.

What is a good credit utilization ratio?

Lower is generally better. Under 30% is a common guideline, and under 10% is often rated excellent in this calculator. Actual credit scoring models, lenders, and reporting can differ, so treat the result as a planning starting point.

Which inputs are accepted?

Enter total balances from 0 through 1000000000 and total credit limits greater than zero through 1000000000. Balances cannot exceed limits, and the utilization result is capped at 100%. Displayed amounts are rounded to two decimal places.
