Steps to Calories Calculator
Convert daily steps into estimated calories burned and distance from your weight and pace locally in your browser.
Enter your step count, body weight, and pace to estimate calories burned and distance. Walking uses about 0.04 kcal per step for a 70 kg adult at an average pace, scaled by your weight; running steps burn more. The calculation runs locally in your browser; your values are not uploaded or stored.
Turn a step count into an energy estimate.
Enter your step count, body weight, and pace. The calculator scales a per-step energy cost by your weight and pace, then adds an estimated walking or running distance. This is a general activity estimate, not medical advice; your values are calculated locally and are not uploaded or stored.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this tool, how it works, and privacy.
How does the steps to calories calculator work?
Enter your step count, body weight, and pace. The calculator multiplies your steps by a per-step energy cost for that pace at a 70 kg reference weight, scaled by your weight divided by 70, then estimates distance from a typical stride for the selected pace.
How many calories do 10000 steps burn?
It depends on your weight and pace. At an average walking pace, a 70 kg adult burns about 400 kcal for 10000 steps using 0.04 kcal per step. Heavier walkers burn more for the same steps, brisk walking burns more than a leisurely stroll, and running steps burn roughly twice as much as walking steps.
What distance does my step count cover?
The calculator estimates distance from your pace: about 0.7 km per 1000 leisurely steps, 0.8 km per 1000 average steps, 0.85 km per 1000 brisk steps, and 1 km per 1000 running steps. Actual stride length varies with height, leg length, speed, and terrain.
How accurate is this estimate?
This is a general activity estimate, not a laboratory measurement or medical advice. Real energy use varies with fitness, body composition, gradient, carried load, arm movement, and how your tracker counts steps. Use the number to compare days and track trends rather than as an exact energy balance.
Are my steps and weight private?
Yes. The calculation runs locally in your browser. CodeASystem does not upload or store the steps, weight, or pace you enter.
