Financial Calculators
CAGR Calculator
Calculate compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from a starting value, ending value, and period.
CAGR (compound annual growth rate) estimates the constant yearly growth rate between two values. This calculator runs locally in your browser; your numbers are not uploaded or stored.
CAGR smooths growth into one annual rate; it ignores interim cash flows, deposits, withdrawals, and volatility. It is for general education and is not financial advice.
Measure the steady annual growth rate between two values.
Enter a starting value, ending value, and period in years. CAGR = (ending value ÷ starting value)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. It smooths a change into one annual rate, so it does not show volatility or account for interim deposits, withdrawals, fees, taxes, or inflation. This private browser estimate is for general education only, not financial, investment, or tax advice; your values are not uploaded or stored.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this tool, how it works, and privacy.
What is the CAGR formula?
CAGR = (ending value ÷ starting value)^(1 ÷ years) − 1. Multiply the decimal result by 100 to express it as a percentage. For example, growing from 1,000 to 1,500 over 5 years produces a CAGR of about 8.45%.
How should I interpret CAGR?
CAGR is the constant annual rate that would turn the starting value into the ending value over the period entered. It is useful for comparing growth over different time spans, but it does not describe the path taken between the two values.
Why can CAGR differ from actual investment returns?
CAGR smooths results into one steady annual rate. It does not account for interim deposits or withdrawals, timing of cash flows, fees, taxes, inflation, volatility, losses along the way, or changing prices and returns. It is not financial, investment, or tax advice.
