Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this tool, how it works, and privacy.
What is the unit price formula?
Unit price = total price ÷ quantity. For example, a $24 package with 6 items costs $4 per item.
How do I compare two package prices?
Calculate each package using the same unit, such as per item, kilogram, litre, or ounce. The lower unit price can be the better value when the products and the costs you include are comparable.
What costs should I include in a unit-price comparison?
Use the total cost you want to compare. Include taxes, discounts, shipping, membership fees, or other charges when they materially affect the purchase, and apply the same approach to each option.
What happens with zero quantity or a custom unit label?
Quantity must be greater than zero because a price cannot be divided by zero. You can enter a label such as items, kg, or litres; if you leave it blank, the result uses “unit”.
Do my prices and quantities stay private, and is this financial advice?
Yes. The calculation runs locally in your browser, and CodeASystem does not upload or store the values you enter. It is a general estimate, not financial advice.
