What formula does the recipe scaler use?
The scale factor is target servings ÷ original servings. Each ingredient quantity is multiplied by that factor. For example, scaling a recipe from 4 servings to 6 uses a factor of 1.5, so 2 cups becomes 3 cups.
Can the recipe scaler handle fractions or decimal ingredient amounts?
Yes. Enter a decimal quantity, such as 0.5 or 1.25, and the calculator returns a decimal result rounded to three places when needed. It does not convert decimals into kitchen fractions, so use practical measuring and cooking judgment when rounding.
What serving sizes can I enter?
Enter positive numbers for both the original and target servings. Whole numbers work for most recipes, while decimal serving sizes can help when you are planning portions.
