Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this tool, how it works, and privacy.
What does the GPA calculator show?
Add each course with its credit hours and letter grade, then choose Calculate GPA. The tool returns your GPA on the standard 4.0 scale, total credits, total grade points, and each course contribution with the formula shown. For example, a 3-credit A (4.0) and a 4-credit B (3.0) give GPA = (12 + 12) / 7 = 3.43.
Which formula does the GPA calculator use?
It uses GPA = total grade points / total credits, where each course grade points = grade point value times credit hours. The standard 4.0 scale maps A to 4.0, A- to 3.7, B+ to 3.3, B to 3.0, B- to 2.7, C+ to 2.3, C to 2.0, C- to 1.7, D+ to 1.3, D to 1.0, and F to 0.0.
Which inputs are accepted?
Enter credit hours greater than zero and up to 100 for each course, and choose a letter grade from A through F with plus and minus modifiers. Course names are optional. At least one course is required. Non-numeric credit hours, empty grade selections, and values outside these ranges show a clear error.
Does my grade data leave my browser?
No. The GPA calculation and copy action run locally in your browser. CodeASystem does not upload or store the grades or credit hours you enter.
